SHAZAM! Star Zachary Levi Is Bitter His DC Role Didn't Make Him Next Chris Evans
After Chuck and Tangled, it seemed inevitable that Zachary Levi would land a big movie role and join Hollywood's A-List. Shazam!, one of the best-reviewed DCEU films ever, brought that about in 2019.For his portrayal of a youngster trapped in the body of a superhero, the actor won plaudits. But for Levi, it never truly happened—possibly because of the epidemic or his perceived one-note performance, in any case. The actor previously appeared in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and Spy Kids: Armageddon, but Shazam! Levi's career as a mainstream cinema star appears to have ended with Fury of the Gods and Harold and the Purple Crayon. His angry posts on social media following the critical and commercial failure of the Shazam! sequel did not help the situation.
Levi has gained some notoriety on the internet for posting anti-vaxer content and subscribing to transphobic X accounts. He has endorsed Donald Trump and Robert Kennedy Jr. for president of the United States this year. Like with politics, some have applauded his actions and others have been incensed by them. Levi has already declared that by supporting Trump in a "very, very leftist" Hollywood, he "career suicided." Now, The Hollywood Reporter is told by an insider who has known Levi for years, "It was truly his dream to be cast as Shazam. He believed that this was his chance to become Chris Evans or The Rock. However, it did not work out for him, and he feels resentful of it."
