Marvel Studios Refused to pay Jeremy Renner for More Hawkeye

Marvel Studios Refused to pay Jeremy Renner for More Hawkeye

After debuting on Disney+ in 2021, Hawkeye became another Marvel Cinematic Universe one-and-done series. There were attempts to develop another season, but Jeremy Renner declined for understandable reasons.

In an interview with High Performance, Renner said he was offered a second season of Hawkeye as Clint Barton. Renner called the offer "half" of what he made on the show's first season. Due to his dissatisfaction with being paid half as much for "twice the amount of work," Renner declined. Without counter-offers, Hawkeye's Season 2 chances appeared to be slim.

"They offered me half the money for Season 2," Renner said. "I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.'"

Renner suggested that Hawkeye Season 2 was offered after his near-fatal snowplow accident on New Year's Day 2023. The actor wondered if his injuries contributed to his lower Hawkeye Season 2 pay, saying, “I'm sorry? Why? Did you think I'm half Jeremy because I was run over? Maybe that's why you want to pay me half my first-season earnings.
